🌎 General

The server is home-hosted, so it depends on Joshua's home internet and power staying up. Things to try:

  • Wait a minute or two and refresh — it may be rebooting after an update.
  • Try a different device or network to rule out something on your end.
  • If it's been down for more than 15 minutes, send Joshua a message.

Speed is limited by Joshua's home upload bandwidth. Common culprits: multiple people streaming at once, a background job running, or Joshua's ISP having an off day. For Jellyfin, lowering the video quality in the player settings (gear icon) usually fixes buffering right away.

Yes — all three services are reachable from anywhere. No VPN needed. Everything runs over HTTPS so your connection is encrypted.

SSL certificates renew automatically. If you see a warning, the renewal may have temporarily failed. Try again after a few minutes. If the error persists for more than a day, let Joshua know so he can check the certificate renewal.

🎬 Jellyfin

If something's missing it hasn't been added yet. Shoot Joshua a message to request it — he can add it and the library will pick it up automatically within a few minutes.

Try these in order:

  • Lower the quality: Click the settings gear in the player and drop to 1080p or 720p.
  • Check the playback method: If it says "Transcode," try switching to a Direct Play format.
  • Try a different browser or the official Jellyfin app.

Watch progress is saved per user account. Make sure you're logged in to your own Jellyfin account — browsing as a guest won't save anything.

In the Jellyfin player, click the speech-bubble icon to toggle subtitle tracks. If a track is out of sync, there's an offset slider under subtitle settings. If no subtitles are available at all, let Joshua know.

☁️ Nextcloud

Username and password are case-sensitive — double-check caps lock. Try the "Forgot password" link on the login page. If that doesn't work, reach out to Joshua to get your credentials reset.

Check: the server address should be exactly https://nextcloud.frogert.com. Make sure the app is up to date. Check you haven't hit your storage quota. Try logging out and back in to refresh the connection.

Storage quotas are set by Joshua based on what's available on the server. Send him a message explaining what you need.

📷 Immich

Check: the app has access to "All Photos" in your phone's Settings. Background app refresh is enabled. If Wi-Fi only mode is on, backup only happens over Wi-Fi. Open the app and tap Backup to trigger a manual sync.

Immich processes photos after upload — generating thumbnails takes a minute or two. Try pulling down to refresh in the app or refreshing the web page. If photos are still missing after a few minutes, let Joshua know.

Open an album and tap the share icon (or three-dot menu on desktop). You can create a public shareable link — anyone with the link can view the album, no account needed. Or add another Immich user directly if they have an account on the server.
